With the release of Guitar Hero 5 we have one of the first big games to allow you to use your Xbox Avatar in game!

Just import your avatar (with all its awards!), pick which instrument you want your avatar to play and then rock out to one of the 85 tracks in the game.

You can view a video below of a few avatars playing along to the in game tracks. I havent got this game yet as Im not a massive music game fan, but its good to see that the game writers are now allowing you to use your avatar in the game.

Just found this competition from Xbox, where you can win an Xbox Avatar Award of your very own custom T-shirt. Unique to you, nobody else will ever have the same thing as you!

All you need to do to win your Xbox Avatar Award is design your own T-shirt, save it as either a PDF or a JPG and then send it to avatar@wearegt.com

Ok, so not exactely an Xbox Avatar Award, but its free so I’m classing it as one.

Certain copies of the new Beatles Rock Band have been labelled with “Free The Beatles Rock Band Shirt” stickers. Now the label looks like you get an actual free shirt, but read on, you dont, you get an xbox avatar award!

This is the first time (that we are aware of), that xbox avatar kit has been given away with games, although, hopefully others will follow and we will get more Xbox Avatar Awards just by buying games! Lets just hope the labels on the cases are a bit clearer next time, rather than trying to trick you into thinking its a real shirt.

I wonder if you can unlock xbox avatar awards in the game as well?

As you may or may not know its the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle this weekend. However for all you Penny Arcade fans, that cant (or cant be bothered) to go to the expo, you can award your Xbox Avatar with new kit from the Xbox Marketplace. Theres 15 shirts for only 80 points each, and 2 hats, 1 for 80 points and the other for 160 points.

I have had quite a few people moaning about the lack of Xbox Avatar Awards on this site. Obviously Xbox Avatar awards are only in Beta stage at the minute, and not top priority on developers lists. Dont worry though. As soon as we get more Xbox Avatar Awards, we will let you know exactely what they are, and where you can get them!

Xbox Avatar Awards are just around the corner, with an update expected any day to enable the awards for everyone. At the minute, there are only a few Xbox Avatar Awards which we know about, but there are plenty of rumours and wish lists of what Avatar Awards people are wanting to see on their Xbox.

The underlying rule behind the Avatar Awards is that they can not make the avatar look non human, but other than that, it is pretty much open to whatever the game developers like.

So, with loads of new games coming out soon, and the update hopefully hear before most of them are released, what Xbox Avatar Awards would you like to see. I would love to see some sort of Zombie Xbox Avatar Award from Call of Duty World At War (if they start releasing Avatar Awards for older games).
